Genealogy
This website is powered by WordPress. WordPress does have supporting software to display our genealogy online. However the software we wish to use with WordPress is still in the beta stage of development. Therefore our genealogy is located at two different websites:
1. Our Métis genealogy is located at ghostkeeper.org.
2. The other surnames we are researching: Campbell, Farnsworth, Flood and Ross (Ohio, USA) are located at my-genealogy.org.
Sources
For a number of years we used Cite Your Sources by Richard S. Lackey as citation guide for citing our sources. In 1997 the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) was made available for genealogists by The Board for Certification of Genealogists. Since proof of our findings is fundamental to our family research we will be now using the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) to make conclusions about ancestors which will add credibility to our research work.
Here are the five elements of the GPS which we will be using in our family genealogy:
- Reasonably exhaustive search
- Complete and accurate citation of sources
- Analysis and correlation of the collected information
- Resolution of conflicting evidence.
- Soundly reasoned, coherently written conclusion.
